Over the next few weeks a number of past and future members of the Parking Block roster will be out and about showing art. This Saturday you can check out Brad Westcott’s work up in the Never Rest show in Vancouver.  A little closer to home, Tim Pigott is a part of the “Text, Drugs and Rock n Roll show at Maxwell Colette on Friday December, 2nd. You can also check out Alex Cohen and Oscar Arriola at the “Hold Fast To Dreams” show at Believe Inn. Make a night of it!

Next week is the start of the holiday shopping frenzy. Even if you don’t buy a zine from Parking Block this year try and support at least one artist in your holiday purchases. Help people make things happen!

The second annual Chicago zinefest is this weekend! It looks like this may the last chance to pick up a few of Parking Block’s historic releases because after this weekend they’ll be gone. Stop by if you can. Say hello. Trade some zines. Bring art. Bring photographs. Bring jokes.

Besides Zinefest there are a few other events in the near and immediate future that involve friends and family.

Friday night you can check out the always ready steady Art Dump’s take on the classic movie poster at the Post Family’s space.

Saturday is the big blowout for Isaac’s new Stereo board and shirts at DLXSF.

On the horizon is Dan Boulton’s solo show of Southbank Photographs. I’m look forward to visiting this iconic spot during the summer.

The next round of zines is starting to come together.

Brown by Benjamin Carr, on the publications page today. After that take a moment and visit the artist page to check out Lauri Apple and Andy Mills new bios.

In other artist news, Mark Gildersleeve, Tim Pigott and Ricky Cozzolino all have art work available for your enjoyment at the Criminal Class Press NOIR Anti-Gala this Saturday, September 25th. You can pick up tickets here. Shawn Hebrank has just returned from dead bird cataloging in Peru. On the 11th of every month he and Albie Rock makes things happen. Alex Cohen and Steven Erst are part of the Center of Multiple Middles show that’s wrapping up at Harold Washington College this Friday. You can enjoy a new Lauri Apple drawing every day until the election over on Animal New York. They’re free. That’s hard to beat. All around awesome fellow Jay Croft’s art work is now available at skate shops around the country via these Vans tshirts.

If you are in Baltimore this weekend check out Parking Block at “Creative Control.”

‘The “Creative Control” exhibit is curated by Jim Lucio, Visual Arts Coordinator for the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts and will include over 100 independent arts and culture publications from around the globe.’

The first 4 releases are now sold out.

Don’t hesitate.

They appear to have an endless parade of in store shows. Go see a band, check out some records and pick up some zines. Check out their blog for more info.

OKGreat posted a great review of Drawing Down the Moon including a dramatic reenactment of its arrival. There should be more dramatic reenactments on the web.. Maybe one day there will be a Tawainese animation reenactment of a Parking Block zine. That would be the bee’s knees. Click here to check out OK Great and the video.

Benjamin Carr has been busy. He just released his latest art book, Martin C. From Brentford. It’s limited to 50 so pick it up before they’re gone. He also sent over some photos of what he’s been working on.

Dan Bolton was kind enough to write up a nice review of Isaac’s zine on the might Club Mumble website.

We’ve added 3 new artists to the roster: Lauri Apple, Tully Mills and Benjamin Carr. Look for more information about their upcoming zines over the new few weeks and months.

Parking Block now has a Facebook page. If you are socially inclined please stop by and give it a thumbs up.

• Parking Block artist Ricky Cozzolino has launched a site for his WTS creatures undertaking. He’s turning into a Colorado crafting kingpin.
• There’s a number of new artists and biographies on the artist page. Learn more about Snacki, Christopher Smith and Porous Walker and welcome Dennis Pomales. Look for Dennis’ zine in June.

Lots of new developments developing for the rest of 2010. Pick up the early releases before they’re gone.

If you are in San Jose you can check out the first four publications at Anno Domino’s Art of Zine show opening this Friday, February 5. Music, zine merchants and a pretty serious collection of xerox wizardry this will be a first rate event.

Shawn Hebrank did the cover artwork and has a feature in the latest issue of I Want Your Skull.

Dominique Holmes is a part of the collaborative Torn Pages show opening February 13th at OhNo! Doom Gallery.

The Beerics gave us a nice little shout out last week. Hopefully will be stirring up some trouble together soon.
